Announcing the only Charts you need.

Nov 14, 2023 - Lyor's Letter

Earlier this year, we shared that fans on Shorts are nearly doubling an artist’s reach. And as of September, Shorts are averaging 70 billion daily views (up from 50 billion daily views in December 2022). Given this momentum on Shorts and continued growth across YouTube, our team wanted to create ways to help artists get recognition and celebrate their success across every music format – Shorts, music videos, and more. I’m thrilled to announce our new mobile-friendly, multi-format Charts site with several new features, including:

  • Shorts Charts to help artists and fans keep up with what’s trending on Shorts
  • Daily Charts for Top Songs on Shorts and Top Music Videos to keep up with the pace of music culture
  • New sharing capabilities to help artists celebrate wins and milestones with fans
  • New Featured Carousel to surface key milestones for charting artists

YouTube is the only place where users can discover artists and songs via music videos and Shorts, easily create a Short with their favorite song, and listen to that song on repeat using YouTube Music. The new Top Songs on Shorts Chart reveals the most popular music trending among creators and showcases the transformation of regional Shorts trends into global hits. To keep pace with this dynamic cultural landscape, we’ve introduced Daily Charts for Top Songs on Shorts and Top Music Videos alongside Weekly Charts.

The new Featured Carousel brings charting artists to the forefront, highlighting their music and their success on the charts. Additionally, we’re introducing custom share cards for every chart appearance in every market, empowering artists to celebrate their achievements and commemorate these milestones with their fans.

YouTube Charts are a true reflection of global music culture and a celebration of artists and their success, powered by billions of fans around the world. I’d love for you to try these new features at charts.youtube.com, and I can’t wait to see you shine on YouTube Charts.

With love and respect,
